Making Small Moments Big

Moments are the most important part of our lives.

They have the ability to break you, make you cry until your chest aches, or keep you second-guessing yourself until you can’t think anymore.

They also have the ability to put the biggest smile on your face, fill your heart with more love than you ever thought possible, and keep you looking forward to the future.

Every single person is faced with both good and bad moments. It’s how we choose to deal with these moments that shape us into who we are.

Something I’ve noticed about people in general, and even myself, is that we all seem to become overly obsessed over huge moments in life. We stress over graduating, buying a house, finding that “forever” person, or even getting hired for our dream job.

Are these moments special? Of course, they are! However, we seem to spend so much time worrying about making these moments a reality, that we forget to live in the present.

Not too long ago I decided to change the way I looked at my everyday life, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Big moments are important, don’t get me wrong, but it’s the small moments that make up the majority of our lives. These are the moments that we need to stop taking for granted.

Something as simple as hanging out with your friends at the beach, going to get ice cream, or even having game night at your house, are all small moments that can mean so much if you let them.

These moments are more than just a “good time.” They’re countless memories that you will be able to look back upon, especially when you’re having a bad day, and remember just how amazing your life really is.

Time truly does fly by, especially as you get older. That’s why it’s so important to sometimes pause and just take everything in.

Some of my favorite moments are the ones I’ve spent with my family, where we’re all laughing so hard we can’t breathe. Or the times I’m hanging out with my friends, and I take a minute to just stop and look around at everyone to see how happy they are.

If there’s one moment that really gets me though...and I know all of you ladies who are in a relationship out there can relate...is when I catch a glimpse of my boyfriend truly enjoying life. Whether it’s while we’re with our friends or just out in town, seeing him happy makes me happy.

Small moments like these are the ones that really need to be obsessed over.

So tonight when you’re laying in bed, stop stressing over life’s big milestones. Instead, think about the irreplaceable moments that day just gave you.

It’s time to stop freaking out so much about the future and start enjoying what life is giving you in that very moment.

The moments I’m talking about may seem small at the time, but put all of them together, and they’ll mean more than one big moment ever could.
