Truth is...I’ve been trying to find the courage for months now to finally publish my first blog post.

I’ve spent hours writing different stories, but none of them seemed like the right way to start. Procrastination took over and the fear of judgment has been holding me back this entire time.

I’ve been afraid that people won’t find me interesting, or that I’ll end up saying the wrong thing. Then I realized that at the end of the day, this blog is for me. I absolutely love writing and want to share that with others. If they don’t like what I have to say or don’t agree with it, then they don’t have to read any of my posts in the future.

So with all of that being said, welcome to my blog! Those of you who follow my Instagram page may be wondering why I haven’t posted any horse pictures/videos in quite a long time.

Around March of last year, I stopped riding. This may come as a shock, seeing as how riding was my entire life from the age of 4, but eventually all of the traveling and being away from home really started to drain me. I had just lost the passion for the sport.

Following a new path and completely changing my lifestyle was not easy. In fact, I wasn’t even able to make that decision on my own. I felt guilty for giving up on everything my family and I had worked for. I was terrified that I would let them down. Luckily, I have incredibly supportive and selfless parents that told me I needed to go back to school and find what truly makes me happy.

I’ll never forget what my mom said the day I stopped riding. She told me, “You’ll either realize that the horses are what you love and you’ll come right back to it, or you’ll find something else that you’re passionate about.” She knew that I needed to experience life outside of the horse world and figure out what I wanted to do with my life.

I thank my parents every single day for what they’ve done for me my entire life, and what they did for me when I was lost.

Fast forward a little bit and I’m now in college working towards my AA. I then plan to transfer to a University in order to get a degree in communications.

My plan is to eventually work in advertising. Am I sure that’s where I will end up? Absolutely not, but I feel confident that if I keep working hard and putting myself out there that I’ll find my way.

Back to the beginning of this post...to me, procrastinating on publishing my blog almost acted as a wake up call. It’s the same thing a lot of us do with our lives every single day. We wait to take that chance and put ourselves out there due to the fear of failure or being rejected. If there’s something that any of you have been wanting to do...make it happen! Don’t be afraid to take a chance on the things that make you happy.

Sometimes that scary leap ends up leaving you happier than you’ve ever been before.
